Research prizes given for glaucoma, AMD

New York?Two ophthalmologists performing research in the fields of glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration have received $40,000 awards from the Helen Keller Foundation and Pfizer Ophthalmics.

New York-Two ophthalmologists performing research in the fields of glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration have received $40,000 awards from the Helen Keller Foundation and Pfizer Ophthalmics.

The awards were presented to Xuyang Liu, MD, PhD, during an American Glaucoma Society meeting in March, and to Lawrence Morse, MD, PhD, during the Macula Society meeting in Carlsbad, CA, in February.

Dr. Liu, a scientist in the department of ophthalmology and visual sciences at the University of Wisconsin, is researching "Modulation of Aqueous Outflow by Gene Therapy Targeting Actin." He was selected from a field of 29 applicants.
