Dublin, CA-Carl Zeiss Meditec Inc. has installed 6,000 Stratus OCT systems.

The milestone-level imaging system was placed at the Cleveland Eye Clinic. William Wiley, MD, medical director at the clinic, said the device will provide significantly more data to confirm diagnoses.

The Stratus OCT was granted FDA clearance in January 2002. The system was used recently to determine re-treatment needs of patients in the PrONTO study for prospective optical coherence tomography imaging of patients with neovascular AMD treated with ranibizumab (Lucentis, Genentech).
