Steven G. Pratt, MD, nicknamed "the Food Dude" by talk show host Oprah Winfrey, said that evidence shows that total health is achieved through diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management, among other factors. He said he believes that spices, including black pepper and cinnamon, can contribute to better health, and that dark chocolate, honey, and kiwi offer such nutritional benefits that they are what he terms "super foods."
A senior staff ophthalmologist at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA, Dr. Pratt has written "SuperFoods Rx," "SuperFoods," and "HealthStyle." He will discuss his ideas during the lecture at 10 a.m. April 29 in San Diego.
