Dr. Travis Meredith is new AUPO president

Travis Meredith, MD, has been elected as the new president of the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO), which is composed of department chairmen, residency directors, and research directors of ophthalmology departments in the United States and Canada, according to a prepared statement.

-Travis Meredith, MD, has been elected as the new president of the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO), which is composed of department chairmen, residency directors, and research directors of ophthalmology departments in the United States and Canada, according to a prepared statement.

Dr. Meredith is the Sterling A. Barrett Distinguished Professor and chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. He also is the recipient of research grants from the National Eye Institute and several awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, including the Lifetime Achievement Award, according to the release.

In addition, Dr. Meredith is chairman of the Council of the American Ophthalmological Society and is a member of the editorial board of the

American Journal of Ophthalmology
