Incline Village, NV-The Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society (OOSS) bestowed the Jerome H. Levy Award for Leadership and Vision in Ophthalmic Surgery on medical practice management and training company BSM Consulting Inc. during OOSS’ Perspective 2011 at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery annual meeting in San Diego, CA.

The award is presented to individuals or organizations that have made contributions deemed invaluable to the ophthalmic ambulatory surgery center (ASC) community in the areas of business management, education, or technology, enabling surgeons and facilities to deliver high-quality care at reasonable costs to patients.

“BSM Consulting has provided unparalleled support to the ASC community through practice management consulting, dozens of live and electronic courses, active participation in the OOSS annual meeting since 1999, and the development and ongoing expansion of a remarkable distance learning resource, BSM Connection for ASC Learning,” said R. Bruce Wallace III, MD, president of OOSS.

Most recently, the company produced a four-part series, “Succession Planning for the Ophthalmology ASC.” Provided as an exclusive benefit for OOSS members, each module in the series includes an article, a 25-minute video, and a downloadable slide deck.

“Our close working relationship with OOSS and its members over the years has allowed us to remain connected to the concerns of the ophthalmic ASC community and to collaborate in a wide variety of educational programs to address these needs,” said Bruce S. Maller, president and chief executive officer of BSM Consulting. “We are very grateful for this recognition and accept it in the spirit of a shared commitment to ensuring the highest quality and value in patient care in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.”
