The India-based pharmaceutical company is taking its first steps into ophthalmology with the announcement.
India-based Alkem Laboratories announced it is stepping into the field of ophthalmology with the launch of a portfolio of eye care products.
The announcement, made in a press release from the company1, states the “expansion demonstrates Alkem's commitment to innovation and its dedication to meeting the diverse needs of patients suffering from various eye conditions.”
According to the press release, the company is “targeting key therapeutic categories for its ophthalmology segment launch by providing innovative, quality and affordable solutions to ophthalmologists, who play a pivotal role in managing and treating eye diseases.”
Sandeep Singh, managing director, Alkem Laboratories, discussed the launch in the press release.
“We are delighted to begin this new chapter in Alkem's journey by entering the field of Ophthalmology. In this new segment, we are aspiring to make it big with the introduction of new, innovative and futuristic formulations,” said Singh. “With our comprehensive product range and patient-centric approach, we aim to empower ophthalmologists to provide exceptional care and improve patients' lives."
The company states the launch of the ophthalmology segment will allow those across India to have better access to “quality eye care formulations at an affordable price.”
In addition to the launch of the ophthalmology segment, Alkem Laboratories is aiming to better educate patients with a dedicated patient education website. The website will be accessible via a scannable QR code on each sales package.
