Centricity Vision announced new ZEPTOLink enhancements, reducing treatment time by up to 60%. These updates, aimed at improving cataract surgery efficiency and control, will be showcased at the 2024 American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting in Chicago.
Centricity Vision Inc. announced new platform enhancements for the ZEPTOLink IOL Positioning System, which now gives surgeons the ability to control and reduce treatment time by as much as 60%.
These platform enhancements will be showcased at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Annual Meeting to be held October 18-21, 2024, in Chicago.
ZEPTOLink is a device designed to create an instantaneous capsulotomy with consistent, 360-degree intraocular lens (IOL) overlap to support lens positioning. Its suction hold time, previously set at 10 seconds, can now be adjusted to as low as four seconds, potentially reducing treatment time and increasing efficiency per case. With its integration into phacoemulsification procedures, ZEPTOLink represents an advancement in automated refractive cataract surgery technology.
“ZEPTOLink integrates seamlessly with my phaco system and provides the ability to create a precise, consistent, and safe capsular opening for my premium and complex cases,” said Uday Devgan, MD, Devgan Eye Surgery. “The ability to customize my suction hold time provides even greater flexibility and control, allowing me to perform successful capsulotomies even more efficiently, which is crucial to achieving superior results for my premium patients.”
Physician presentations highlighting the ZEPTOLink IOL Positioning System at AAO 2024 include:
“In surgery, every second matters. The newest product enhancements to ZEPTOLink provide surgeons with another level of flexibility and customization to better meet patients’ needs,” said Todd M. Pinkney, chief commercial officer, Centricity Vision. “We look forward to showcasing these new features at AAO and highlighting how our technology even further increases efficiency and productivity in the operating room, while providing surgeons with greater precision and consistency.”
Creating a well-formed, centered capsulotomy is a critical step in cataract surgery, important for ensuring effective IOL positioning and stability. ZEPTOLink uses 12 micro-pulses of energy in 4 milliseconds to help center the capsulotomy with 360-degree IOL overlap on the patient’s visual axis. Its precision pulse capsulotomy (PPC) is designed to preserve corneal endothelial cells, similar to continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis (CCC) in manual cataract surgery.
According to the company, ZEPTOLink builds on previous ZEPTO technology and is intended for use with premium IOLs and complex cases. The system integrates with any phacoemulsification setup to create an instantaneous capsulotomy and aims to improve efficiency and workflow in cataract procedures.
