Wilmer Eye Institute honored for best overall, research programs

The Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, was honored for excellence in two areas of ophthalmic achievement in Ophthalmology Times' 2006 Best Programs Awards.

The Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, was honored for excellence in two areas of ophthalmic achievement in Ophthalmology Times' 2006 Best Programs Awards.

The institution was ranked first in the categories of best overall and best research programs. Each year, the magazine conducts a poll among chairmen and residency directors in ophthalmology programs across the United States.

, presented the Best Programs Award to Peter J. McDonnell, MD, director and William Holland Wilmer Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute.

The award was presented during the Wilmer Eye Institute's alumni party Saturday evening.
