Wilmer Eye Institute, Bascom Palmer take top honors in survey

The results of Ophthalmology Times' 11th annual survey to determine the Best Overall programs as well as Best Clinical, Research, and Residency programs in ophthalmology lists many familiar names among the Top 10. The difference largely comes as they swap positions on the list, each jockeying for prominence in the hearts and minds of ophthalmology leaders nationwide.

Head of the class

"Since Dr. Wilmer founded the institution, the Wilmer Eye Institute has tried to train the best ophthalmologists, who will go on to become leaders in the field-either as department chairpersons, presidents of the academy, medical school deans, presidents of state medical societies, or outstanding leaders in private practice in their communities," Dr. McDonnell said.

He attributes that success to a staff that constantly works to improve itself.
