Fairfax, VA-Stephen S. Lane, MD, will receive the Cornelius D. Binkhorst Medal of Honor and deliver the Binkhorst Lecture at the 32nd annual symposium of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery in March.

Dr. Lane, an expert in cornea/external disease, anterior segment surgery, and refractive surgery, will describe the important procedures and technology that have led up to removing the crystalline lens; his lecture is titled "The Convergence of Cataract and Refractive Surgery." Because of the advances in lens removal techniques, Dr. Lane said, an increasing number of patients are opting for refractive lens exchange rather than LASIK or PRK. He will discuss these advances and their implications for the future.
