Dr. Gorny named CEO of Carl Zeiss Vision

Aalen, Germany-Norbert Gorny, PhD, has been named chief executive officer of Carl Zeiss Vision International GmbH. He succeeds Jeremy Bishop, who had been CEO of the company since its inception in March 2005, when Carl Zeiss AG and SOLA International merged.

Aalen, Germany-Norbert Gorny, PhD, has been named chief executive officer of Carl Zeiss Vision International GmbH. He succeeds Jeremy Bishop, who had been CEO of the company since its inception in March 2005, when Carl Zeiss AG and SOLA International merged.

Dr. Gorny joined Carl Zeiss AG in 1998 as head of the Light Microscopy Division. For 5 years prior to joining the company, he was a business consultant with McKinsey & Co. Dr. Gorny subsequently was promoted to executive vice president of the company's Business Group and in 2001, he was appointed to the company's executive board. In this capacity, he oversaw corporate production departments and the European Sales subsidiaries as well as the Optronics and Photo divisions.

The company's North American headquarters is in San Diego.
