AAO annual meeting attendees set records

San Francisco-The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) enjoyed record-setting registration and attendance for its annual meeting last month in Las Vegas, the first time the organization joined with the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology for a yearly gathering.

San Francisco-The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) enjoyed record-setting registration and attendance for its annual meeting last month in Las Vegas, the first time the organization joined with the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology for a yearly gathering.

Registration was at its highest ever–32,574–with 27,249 attending. Subspecialty day registration and attendance experienced an increase as well: glaucoma registration was up 47%; refractive, 34%; and retina, 18%.

“Thousands of ophthalmologists benefited from an unsurpassed scientific program,” said H. Dunbar Hoskins, MD, executive vice president of the AAO.
