In the hustle and bustle surrounding the preparation for the AAO meeting, here are just a few important resources that should not go unnoticed. They will all make the AAO experience even more enjoyable.
This is a child-care option offered by the Academy in Chicago.
Children aged 6 months to 12 years can attend and be guaranteed what AAO describes as a “safe, nurturing environment located near the McCormick Place convention center.”
The kids will be able to enjoy arts and crafts and a variety of active games.
The Camp AAO operating hours are 7:30 am to 6 pm from Friday, Oct. 18 — Sunday, Oct. 20 and on Monday, Oct 21 from 7:30 am to 4 pm.
Parents will provide food at drop-off or bring food during the day, and childcare providers will not administer any medication.
Online registration is available.
This is a new social feature at AAO that replaces the Orbital Gala. The celebration provides the opportunity to meet up with friends and mingle with “ophthalmology's luminaries” while enjoying cocktails and appetizers.
Tickets cost $150 and can be purchased online. The proceeds will benefit AAO’s ophthalmic education, surgical coaching, and mentoring initiatives.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, from 7:30 to 10:30 pm at the TAO Nightclub 632 N. Dearborn St.
The website lists a number of outstanding locations at AAO that the international attendees are encouraged to visit. These places are designed to facilitate networking, learning, relaxing, and recharging.
